The East Marshall Street Well Planning Committee will hold its next meeting at Virginia Commonwealth University.

The planning committee will convene on Friday, Sept. 19, at 2:30 p.m. and the formal meeting will take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in room 110 of the 500 Academic Centre building, 500 Harrison St. The public is invited to attend.

The planning committee, consisting of community and university members, was established last year to select an appropriate decision-making body to help determine what happens to human remains found in a 19th century well uncovered during the 1994 construction of the Hermes A. Kontos Medical Sciences Building on VCU’s medical campus.

There will be an opportunity for members of the public to make comments at the end of the planning committee meeting but time may be limited. Speakers will be asked to keep comments to two minutes. Those interested in speaking at the meeting should contact Stephen Davenport at davenportse3@vcu.edu.
