Virginia Commonwealth University’s Conference and Scheduling Services department has achieved One-Stop Shop Certification through the Association of Collegiate Conference and Events Directors-International.

One-Stop Shop certification recognizes collegiate operations that deliver one contact, one contract and one bill to meeting planners. This streamlining of conferencing and events coordination is intended to more closely match the practices of convention facilities and finer hotels.

“We are greatly honored that we received this certification after only one year of operating,” said Robbie Schnizler, a conference services coordinator at CSS, adding that this certification was a goal from the beginning.

CSS defines an “event” as a scheduled meeting that does not require an overnight stay and a “conference” as one that does. On behalf of its clients, CSS arranges for the use of VCU facilities, including dining, housing, gym access and various space requirements.

“We try to accommodate all requests that we receive,” Schnizler said, “but VCU clients are our No. 1 priority.”

Founded in 1980, ACCED-I has 1,500 members from more than 625 colleges and universities in North America, South America, Europe and Asia. ACCED-I is the only independent educational association dedicated to professional growth and development in the collegiate conference and events profession.
