Virginia Commonwealth University’s Wellness Resource Center and Sexual Assault and Violence Education by Students (SAVES) are hosting the annual “Take Back the Night” march near the Monroe Park Campus in support of survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence and stalking.

The “Take Back the Night” march begins at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 25. The march begins along the 900 block of West Main Street, between the University Student Commons and Grace E. Harris Hall, and will move around Monroe Park. Reporters are invited to cover the march.

“Take Back the Night” has been a tradition at VCU for more than 15 years and has taken place nationally since 1975, when the first event was held in Philadelphia. The marches are meant to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of being a survivor.
