Eric Peters joined the University Public Affairs staff as a junior public relations specialist in October 2011. Although he is based at the VCU Medical Center and spends much of his time on the MCV Campus, Peters covers events, escorts media, answers media inquiries and assists with public relations for all schools and departments on both campuses.
His professional experience includes internships and freelance work for newspapers and news services as well as full-time positions in the communications departments of a Fortune 500 company and a small business. These positions have allowed him to cover everything from small town feature stories to the Virginia General Assembly, and to conduct both local and national media relations initiatives.
Peters received his bachelor’s degree in mass communications with a concentration in print journalism when he graduated cum laude from VCU in 2008. He also holds a master’s degree in corporate and professional communication from Radford University (’09), and is currently working toward a Master of Public Administration degree at VCU.
