Virginia Commonwealth University Health officials are hosting a Twitter chat on how to prevent and treat the common cold. The chat is scheduled for 2:30–3:30 p.m., Nov. 24, and will be facilitated by Gonzalo Bearman, M.D., professor of medicine and chair of the Division of Infectious Diseases in the VCU School of Medicine and chair of infectious disease at VCU Medical Center.

Medical professionals say the cold season occurs during the fall and winter months, beginning in early September and lasting until around March. During the chat, Bearman will offer simple precautions to avoid the common cold and what to do if a person is already experiencing symptoms. Additionally, he will discuss which populations are most susceptible to a cold.

To be part of the conversation or submit questions in advance, users can log on to Twitter and follow @VCUHealth using #VCUHealthChat as the hashtag.
