Two VCU students receive Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships: Bruce Joseph Hennen, a senior majoring in international studies with a concentration in Asian studies in the School of World Studies, has been offered the scholarship to participate in a direct-enrollment program at Fudan University in Shanghai, China. Mary Boyd, a junior majoring in print journalism in the School of Mass Communications, received the scholarship to participate in the International Student Exchange Program direct-enrollment program at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland

Statement of Thomas Rosenthal, Rector, Virginia Commonwealth University Board of Visitors: Last month, I received an anonymous complaint alleging that the university awarded an undergraduate degree without the student meeting what is known as the residency rule – a requirement that 25 percent of the credit hours required for a bachelor’s degree must be earned at VCU. The complaint also alleged this was a result of undue influence, including that of the president of the University.
