AARP CEO Jo Ann Jenkins will join Ed Grier, dean of the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business, for a conversation on “The Business of Boomers” on Wednesday, April 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hotel John Marshall, 101 N. Fifth St.

The discussion is part of the VCU School of Business Foundation’s annual spring Investors Circle reception.

As CEO of AARP, Jenkins leads the world’s largest nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization with 38 million members, 60,000 volunteers and a diverse range of strategic partners. Following a 25-year career with the federal government, Jenkins joined AARP in 2010 as president of the AARP Foundation, where her work focused on assisting struggling seniors in the areas of housing, hunger, income and isolation. In 2014, Jenkins was named CEO, a role in which she has accelerated AARP’s mission as a leader of social change, dedicated to empowering people to choose how they live and age.

A fearless champion for innovation and impact, Jenkins has been described as a visionary and global thought leader, a catalyst for breakthrough results, accelerating progress and contribution while fostering positive relationships.

She is the author of the best-selling book“Disrupt Aging: A Bold New Path to Living Your Best Life at Every Age,” which has become a signature rallying cry for changing society’s views on aging.

Prior to joining AARP, Jenkins served as the chief operating officer at the Library of Congress. She developed and directed the National Book Festival and the Library of Congress Experience, for which she received the Library of Congress Distinguished Service Award.

The Investors Circle, established in 1996, recognizes alumni, recent graduates, faculty, staff and community and business partners who make a one-time or cumulative leadership gift to any fund within the VCU School of Business.
