African-American scholar to speak about urban development at VCU on Feb. 20

WHAT: VCU’s African-American Studies Program Distinguished Lecture Series featuring Claude W. Barnes, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Political Science at North Carolina A & T University.

WHO: Barnes’ areas of specialization are urban transportation, public policy, research methodology and the impact of racial discrimination on public policy. His lecture, "Geographic Information Systems and the Study of Race, Transportation and Urban Development, " will explore the impact of developments in science and technology on efforts to solve transportation and urban development issues, particularly given the challenges of racial demographics in urban areas.
