The Anderson Gallery at Virginia Commonwealth University invites the public to attend a reception on Feb. 28 to honor three winter exhibitions scheduled to close March 9. The three exhibitions are "Lather," "Thinking with Blood" and "Return to Normandy."

"Lather" is one of New York sculptor Gregory Barsamian's latest mixed media stroboscopic sculptures. The sculpture features the theme of compulsive hand washing.

"Thinking with Blood: Conflict and Culture in the American South" is a compilation of the personal stories of three artists, concerned with the identity and traditions of the American South.

"Return to Normandy" includes 35 black and white photographs showing the remains of World War II defensive fortifications on the Normandy Coast in France as they appear today, almost 60 years after the D-Day invasion.

Award-winning photographer Allen Jones and several artists who contributed to the "Thinking with Blood" exhibition will attend the closing reception.
