Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam and Secretary of Health and Human Resources Daniel Carey will join Virginia Commonwealth University President Michael Rao, Ph.D., on Monday, May 21, to announce the largest grant from the National Institutes of Health in university history: a multimillion-dollar grant to help translate laboratory research into treatments and potential cures for diseases such as pulmonary disease, cardiac disease and opiate addiction.

Reporters are invited to a news conference about the grant beginning at noon in the atrium of the Virginia BioTechnology Research Park BioTech One building, 800 E. Leigh Street, Richmond.

Media parking is available in the nearby surface lot at 8th and Leigh streets. Spaces are limited. First come, first served.
