RamsLink paratransit service expands accessibility at VCU

Virginia Commonwealth University is enhancing accessibility with a new paratransit service – RamsLink – that will help registered riders navigate the Monroe Park and MCV campus.

During academic semesters, RamsLink operates Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and – with advance scheduling – offers direct, point-to-point service. Rides require prior registration based on temporary or long-term mobility needs.

To use RamsLink, riders must qualify through one of four registration pathways:

• Temporary disability or need: Submit the RamsLink Temporary Authorization Form available on the service’s website.
• Permanent disability with ADA placard: Email a clear image of an ADA placard and wallet card to commute@vcu.edu.
•  Long-term disability for students without ADA placard: Register through the Student Accessibility and Educational Opportunity office.
• Long-term disability for faculty/staff without ADA placard: Register with the Equity and Access Services office.

Riders can schedule and manage their RamsLink trips using the Ride Pingo app.

RamsLink supports the diverse mobility demands for individuals needing to access both campuses, and it furthers the One VCU mission, enabling students, faculty and staff to connect more easily and encourage inclusive efforts.

“We are dedicated to supporting the VCU community and connecting our students and campuses through accessible services,” said Josh Stone, executive director of VCU Parking and Transportation. “Given the unique transportation demands across our two campuses, we’re excited to offer RamsLink to better meet the needs of our community through specialized, point-to-point service.”

VCU students and employees will also continue to have access to the overnight RamSafe service, which is available 365 days a year.
