Changes to campus are afoot to protect against COVID-19 — here’s what to expect

When students, faculty and staff return to Virginia Commonwealth University in August, things will look a bit different than when they left. Employees from the Facilities Management Division along with staff from across the university have been busy making modifications and assembling supplies to make campus as safe as possible this fall as the world continues to grapple with the coronavirus.

Classrooms and common areas are being outfitted to ensure physical distancing, whether by taping off seating or moving or removing furniture. Signs and placards indicate occupancy limits and remind the VCU community of safety guidelines. Plexiglass partitions provide barriers in situations where people can’t keep their distance. Every measure taken – and every measurement – is done with one goal in mind: preventing the spread of COVID-19.
