The 22nd annual Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business International Business Forum will explore the potential implications of scaling back the international business engagement of the United States, Europe and other countries as we move further into the 21st century.

“Is Globalization Ending? Attacks from the Left and Right,” sponsored by Universal Corp. and presented by the VCU School of Business’ Center for International Business Advancement, will take place Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the University Student Commons Ballrooms, 901 Floyd Ave. A reception will follow in the School of Business Atrium, 301 W. Main St. The event is free and open to the public.

This forum will explore what is possibly the most important issue of our time — globalization and its future.

“This forum will explore what is possibly the most important issue of our time — globalization and its future,” said forum moderator Van R. Wood, Ph.D., professor of international marketing, Philip Morris Endowed Chair in International Business and director of the VCU Center for International Business Advancement. “With over 95 percent of the world’s population living outside the U.S., the growth markets of the 21st century will lie within the burgeoning middle classes of India, China, Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, Indonesia, Turkey and many other emerging markets.

“We are indeed at a crossroad. I encourage anyone with an interest in the pivotal ideas of our time to attend the forum.”

Speakers are Ted Piccone, senior fellow of foreign policy at the Brookings Institution, and Chris Bischof, Ph.D., assistant professor of history at the University of Richmond.

The VCU School of Business established the International Business Forum in 1994 to raise awareness among students, faculty and the business community of the global nature of commerce and how it links to events both at home and abroad.
