School of Education announces new faculty

The VCU School of Education has hired four assistant professors, starting this semester:
Adai Tefera, Ph.D., Department of Foundations of Education
Tefera comes to VCU from Arizona State University’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. Her recent research focuses on how educational stakeholders in urban school settings mediate federal and state educational policies, particularly policies focused on culturally and linguistically diverse learners with disabilities.
Michael Broda, Ph.D., Department of Foundations of Education
Broda, a research methodologist who teaches quantitative methods and statistics, has particular interest in several areas of quantitative research, including social network analysis, experimental and quasi-experimental design, and longitudinal data analysis and modeling.
Stephen Tucker, Ph.D., Department of Teaching and Learning
Tucker teaches mathematics education. His primary research focuses on how children learn mathematics while interacting with technology. He also has extensive experience teaching elementary mathematics methods courses and developing curriculum.
W. Monty Jones, Ph.D., Department of Teaching and Learning
Jones teaches instructional technology and design. His primary research focuses on K-12 teacher learning of technology integration. His secondary research interests involve teacher preparation for online teaching. Jones is the creator and program coordinator for the VCU Online Teaching Certificate program.
