Governor appoints four to VCU Board of Visitors

Clyde Clark, Frank Conner, Robert Greene and Carmen Lomellin will join the board July 1.

Gov. Abigail Spanberger on Friday announced the appointments of four new members of the Virginia Commonwealth University Board of Visitors.

The new members will serve four-year terms, starting July 1. They are:

  • Clyde Clark of Chesapeake, SVP/relationship manager, Blue Ridge Bank
  • Frank Conner, J.D., of Alexandria, retired, Covington & Burling LLP
  • Robert Greene of Arlington, president and CEO, National Association of Investment Companies
  • Carmen Lomellin of Arlington, principal, Lomellin Global Partners

Lomellin, a former U.S. Ambassador to the Organization of American States, is rejoining the BOV after having previously served from 2020 to 2024.

"We are pleased to welcome our new board members and the unique perspectives they bring," said Michael Rao, Ph.D., president of VCU. "Their collective experience will be invaluable as we work together to advance the university's vital mission of elevating research and learning to maximize human potential."

The four new BOV members will succeed Peter Farrell, Ellen Fitzsimmons, J.D., Dale Jones, Ph.D., and Clifton Peay, M.D. Rao thanked the outgoing members for their dedicated service to the board and VCU.

"We extend our deepest appreciation to our departing board members. Their dedication and leadership have made lasting impacts on our university, and we are thankful for their partnership."
