Virginia Commonwealth University will host the Richmond Institute of Technology and Science 2026 Summer Camp, “Intro to Artificial Intelligence,” from July 20-24 at the College of Engineering.
This one-week, full-day program introduces students 13 and older to AI through hands-on labs, collaborative challenges and real-world applications. Around 80 students will work with the same concepts and tools used in the industry today to explore how AI is used across multiple industries, learning both how it works and why it matters.
The week culminates in a final project presentation, with media access, on Friday, July 24, in the Engineering Research Building atrium, 401 W. Cary St. (Courtyard entrance is at 70 S. Madison St.) Students will demonstrate what they have built and learned. Media can speak with students and view projects such as robotic exoskeletons, computer vision cameras and student-built apps from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
