Communication Arts student Shadiah Lahham was published in the fall 2010 issue of "The Collegiate Scholar,” an online publication of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

Lahham’s “Life of Pi,” created in Photoshop, was published in the art category. The work, originally created as a summer assignment for the Illustration Academy in Richmond, depicts a book cover of the Yann Martel adventure novel about Pi Patel, an Indian boy shipwrecked with a Bengal tiger.

“I chose ‘Life of Pi’ because I remember reading it for the first time when I was 15 and it was the first time I felt challenged by what I was reading,” Lahham said. “Since then it has become one of my favorite books and I love all the visual symbols throughout the story.”

“The Collegiate Scholar” comes out three times a year, in the fall, spring and summer semesters.
