Virginia Commonwealth University marks VCU Alumni Month in April with a full range of intellectual, cultural, recreational and leadership events to celebrate the university and showcase Ram pride.

“Alumni Month provides many and varied opportunities for our 174,000 alumni to reconnect and engage with one another, as well as students, faculty and staff at VCU,” said Gordon McDougall, associate vice president for university alumni relations.

Highlights of this year’s Alumni Month include VCU Jazz performances, the Marquita Aguilar Walk-a-thon to support student scholarships, a head-to-head cook-off between the men’s basketball coaches from VCU and the University of Richmond, Lavender Graduation, the VCU Alumni and Community Bike Ride and a VCU Alumni Winery Tour. In addition, VCU Alumni members receive free access to the Cary Street Gym and the MCV Campus Recreation and Aquatics Center during April, and all alumni can try out the recreational facilities during Reunion Weekend, April 15–17. A number of classes will return to the university for Reunion Weekend to reminisce and reconnect with friends at the RPI Reunion, the MCV Campus Reunion and the African-American Alumni Council Reunion.

We look forward to recognizing and celebrating our alumni, both near and far.

Alumni who don’t live in Richmond or who can’t make it back to campus can still embrace the spirit of the monthlong celebration by wearing black and gold on Fridays for Rams @ Work (and sharing on social media) or connecting and organizing events with one of 19 VCU Alumni chapters internationally.

“We look forward to recognizing and celebrating our alumni, both near and far,” McDougall said. “Alumni Month encapsulates VCU’s dedication to the appreciation of our diverse alumni community and keeps our graduates connected with their alma mater.”
